Crime statistics of Fauquier County, Virginia

Between 2018 and 2019, the total crimes rate of Fauquier did not move from its average of 320 plus incidents per annum. This was attributed to the simultaneous decrease in property crime rates and increase in violent crime rates. Property crimes went from clocking over 280 incidents to 270 incidents in 2019. In contrast, violent crimes went from a low of 40 incidents to 52 incidents in 2019. 

An estimated 1000 criminal complaints are filed with the police in Fauquier County, Virginia, every year. Although most of these at over 900 incidents can be attributed to property vandalism and theft, there are also 50 instances of violent crime in that cumulative number.

On average, there has been a rise of about 15% in the rate of crime from 2004 to 2008. Most of this growth was observed in the three years from 2004 to 2007 while a marked decrease can be seen in 2008. Despite this, if more is not done to curb the burgeoning crime figures of Fauquier, crime averages may touch 1200 annual incidents in the near future.
